They should fit snugly and therefore will tend to stay in place firmly during sport. They may not be as thick as the expensive pre-made types.

Night guards are recommended to use if you are grinding your teeth or clenching at night. A custom made tray will be made for you to use during asleep.

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 23:16:49 +0000 xequals 22 at https://dentistwellington.co.nz Fissure Sealants https://dentistwellington.co.nz/services/preventative-dentistry/fissure-sealants Fissure Sealants xequals Wed, 12/06/2017 - 12:16

The biting surfaces of back teeth are shaped like "hills and valleys' known as cusps and fissures. Toothbrush bristles are unable to get into the narrow fissures to remove plaque and bacteria which produce acid when sugar is eaten, causing decay. To help prevent decay, the fissures are sealed over with a fissure sealant, which is a plastic coating. This means your back teeth (molars) will be less likely to need fillings at a later date.

Placing a fissure sealant is a painless procedure as there is no cutting away of tooth tissue - no drilling.

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 23:16:18 +0000 xequals 21 at https://dentistwellington.co.nz Dental Hygiene/Oral hygiene Instructions https://dentistwellington.co.nz/services/preventative-dentistry/dental-hygieneoral-hygiene-instructions Dental Hygiene/Oral hygiene Instructions xequals Wed, 12/06/2017 - 12:14

Dental Hygiene is usually done by a Dental Hygienist but for some of our practices, it is done by a dentist. They will do a thorough periodontal assessment – this involves checking the oral tissues, probing of pocket depths and recession, checking for signs of oral cancers, checking for mobility and assessing your brushing, flossing or special cleaning techniques.

At this point the dental hygienist/dentist will discuss with you about your gum condition, go over recommended home care (with demonstration if need) and then discuss the proposed treatment options. Then, will start scaling with sonic, ultrasonic and hand scalers. Once, tartar is removed then they will polish the teeth with polishing paste to remove residual staining.

Then they will discuss with you about your recall – this is the recommended time you should be coming back to get the hygiene treatment so we can prevent further disease.Regular hygiene treatment will help prevent further inflammation and infection that causes pain to gums.

Book an appointment with one of our lovely hygienists to achieve that squeaky clean smile!

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 23:14:32 +0000 xequals 19 at https://dentistwellington.co.nz Dental Check up / Consultation https://dentistwellington.co.nz/services/preventative-dentistry/dental-check-consultation Dental Check up / Consultation xequals Wed, 12/06/2017 - 12:14

Whether you are experiencing tooth pain, due for a routine check-up, or simply want to stay on top of your oral health, a dental check-up is the first step toward a healthy smile.

During your dental check-up at Capital Dental, our experienced dentists will thoroughly assess your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. This allows us to identify early signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or other dental concerns before they become more serious

As part of your visit, dental x-rays may be taken to examine areas between the teeth and below the gum line that cannot be seen during a visual examination. These images help us accurately diagnose any issues and determine the cause of discomfort or pain if present.

Following your examination, your dentist will discuss the findings with you in clear, easy-to-understand terms. Where treatment is required, we will create a personalised treatment plan outlining the recommended procedures, timeframes, and costs, so you can make informed decisions about your care.

Our friendly team is also available to assist with appointment scheduling and discuss flexible payment options where available.

For most patients, we recommend a dental check-up at least once a year. In some cases, six-monthly visits may be advised to help maintain optimal oral health and prevent future problems.

Find a clinic near you https://www.dentistwellington.co.nz/locations

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 23:14:03 +0000 xequals 18 at https://dentistwellington.co.nz
